I am still in complete shock that I am only a week away from boarding a plane to embark on a trip that I hope will change my life. I would have never thought that I would ever be able to travel to Africa and have the opportunity to study there for 5 months! I don’t think that it will really set in until I get there.
My challenge right now is packing. Usually I would just throw everything I brought home back into my suitcase and head on back to Lake Forest, IL, but not this time. I have to meticulously pick out modest clothes that I won’t die from heat exhaustion in. This doesn’t sound too difficult, but finding knee length skirts in the middle of winter that aren’t completely hideous is a bit of an issue. Oh well, I am trying to maintain my “go with the flow” attitude and just be extremely flexible throughout this entire process. Let’s be honest though, I probably won’t actually pack until the night before and I will find myself laying in my suitcase crying at 3 in the morning. But it should all be worth it.
Let the journey begin.
Melissa I am so excited for you to take this trip! I know that you are going to have an amazing time and that it is going to change your life forever- in a good way of course. Life at Lake Forest is not going to be the same without you-I don't even want to start thinking about that right now.... gah!
